Living in New York City while perusing Yoga Photography, my mind travels to the land of yoga. The eagerness in mind to visualize the master meditating in (jonosunno/where no foot step of human) deep forest surrounded by green(nature) or probably in mountain and maybe some parts of great Himalayas.
As we can’t give a definitive number in year for human civilization, It is same for evolution of yoga. No one knows when it has started. For thousands of years from different masters of different yoga (types), yoga went through a great evolution till today and it continues. For example, Hatha yoga or Haṭhavidyā (Sanskrit) is believed to founded by Lord Shiva. Load Shiva is one of the deities Hinduism. So we can assume, practice of yoga started very early. Later in the 20th century, Hatha yoga, particularly Asanas, became popular throughout the world.
Hundreds years to guru like Swami Vivekananda or Krishnamacharya, Krishnamacharya to Indra Devi, to today’s beautiful new york city yogi, yoga has added more western attributes to it.
